We have kicked off the 2019 Camporee Planning early, and are excited to have our own fresh, new dedicated Camporee Website as a one-stop resource for this great event.
This year's theme will be "Space Vikings: The Adventure Continues"
At a new location: William S. Hart Regional Park
Camporee is one of our District’s largest annual events. Troops and Packs converge for a three-day weekend adventure to demonstrate teamwork and challenge their scout skills in friendly competitions, and to celebrate fellowship with the entire Balboa Oaks scouting community. Our program themes vary from year to year to keep things fresh, but Scout Skills and Values remain at the core.
Most of all, Camporee is fun in the outdoors for the boys, their leaders and their families!
Cub and Boy Scouts compete in separate program tracks to demonstrate their scout skills they have learned throughout the Scout Program: physical and mental fitness, proper camping and the Outdoor Code, teamwork and Scout Values.
In addition to the game sessions, scouts and leaders have the rare opportunity to meet and visit with members of other units. Saturday evening is the time for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts to join in their big Campfire gatherings, filled with skits, songs and awards for the day’s events. Arrow of Light/Webelos Scouts may bridge Boy Scout troops this weekend, guided in a ceremonial procession from the Cub to the Boy Scout campfire.
A special benefit of the Balboa Oaks Camporee is that Cub Scouts, parents and leaders have opportunities to visit several Boy Scout troops and leaders in one location. In turn, the Boy Scouts encourage our Cubs on their continuing journey in Scouting.
By bringing all the units together, Camporee reminds us all that we are part of something much greater than our patrols, packs, troops and crews: the worldwide Scouting movement!
See you all at Camporee!
